Careers Information Session – for Australian youth with a hearing loss

Are you interested in looking for part time work and need to put together a great Resume and get some tips on how to answer interview questions? Then our next Careers Workshop is for you.

Tara Sinclair is a qualified Career Development Professional with 25 years industry experience.

Tara’s provides clients with career support services such as career guidance, coaching, application writing, job search training, interview skills preparation and outplacement programs.

What will be covered in the workshop:

CREATING A WINNING RESUME:

  • What makes a great resume
  • How to stand out from other applicants
  • How to apply for jobs online – seek etc
  • Specific resume layouts that work (and those to avoid)
  • Going through each heading / section and discussing what to include
  • Making sure your resume is ‘Applicant Tracking System’ friendly
  • Writing an application letter
  • Approaching employers directly to tap into the hidden job market
  • Answering participant questions

 

INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES THAT WORK:

  • How to stand out at your interview
  • Body language
  • Overcoming nerves to perform at your best
  • Responding to interview questions
  • Selling your strengths
  • Questions that you could ask
  • Using examples from your extra-curricular activities/hobbies
  • Overcoming challenges and feeling confident
  • Answering participant questions

Once completed your teenager will have increased knowledge and confidence on writing their resumes and how to perform their best at an interview.
