Marie has bilateral, severe – profound, sensorineural hearing loss and was one of two deaf students in her year at a school in Western Sydney. There were at least one student with a hearing loss in each grade at my high school – so there were quite a few of us.
My favourite subject was either PDHPE or Legal Studies and I loved playing football (soccer) because it allowed me to be a part of something that other people belonged to, and I got to showcase my shot-stopping skills in between the posts!
I now work for Hearing Australia in an admin/FOH role which allows me to help many Australians along their hearing journey.
