Help Us Support Grace and over 8,607 deaf teens across Australia

Thank you for your interest in supporting teens like Grace. Your support will help us:

  • Reach over 8,607* deaf or hard of hearing teenagers throughout Australia, of which 87% of them find themselves the only student in their school with a hearing loss.
  • Provide support and skills to over 40 deaf or hard of hearing young adults, who volunteer to be mentors. We are proud of our volunteer culture however we need support to provide the training and logistical support to them.
  • Ensure staff administrators (all deaf or hard of hearing) are able to cover the increasing levels of government requirements and regulations caused by the NDIS. Very little of these costs are covered by the NDIS. Our staff are key supports who bring together deaf teenagers and their young adult mentors, who are deaf like them.
  • Build on-line safe places for deaf teenager interaction and communications of tomorrow.  Read more below about our online mentoring program. Teenagers are responding from all over Australia however we need support to ensure these projects are available to them long term.
  • Grow some of our most popular programs; Life Goals and Skills, Rock My World, and Primary2Secondary.

How you can help us support deaf teens like Grace – 365 days a year at the push of a button

The Need: Online Mentoring Program

  • Provide a place where 8,607 deaf teenagers in Australian can access 365 days per year.
  • Connect deaf teenagers with a team of deaf staff mentors, on communication issues, mental health and social skills.
  • Engage with people who “get” them.
  • Supply a confidential safe place for deaf teenagers to feel supported.
  • We need your support because:
  • The NDIS does not fund these type of initiatives.
  • We are entering the 5G era.
  • Teenagers have high technology expectations and we love to push technology boundaries.

To make this real we need to raise at least $200,000 to kick start this life saving interactive mentoring program for many Australian deaf teenagers and their families. Any donation, big or small, will help us reach our goal.

If you or your organisation are unable to fund,  we also value people looking to provide some hours per week or fortnight to help us grow.

We’d love support from skilled staff in these areas:

  • Information Technology and Back-End Systems support and improvements
  • Social media, development, planning, and campaigns
  • Content development and generation, then advising on campaigns
  • Hosting a fundraising event, organise a ball and have HFY teenagers and mentors share their Australian success stories
  • Provide professional development training to our staff and/or Mentors as upskilling staff is building our assets
  • Provide human resources, quality management, file storage skills – we are small but with big ambitions and really appreciate any help to improve our standards in these areas as we grow to reach all those teenagers.
