 Program information:

We are now proud to announce that we are bringing the Life Goals & Skills Blast program to Rockhampton, Central North Queensland! This is the condensed version of our flagship Life Goals & Skills Program so instead of 4 separate sessions over 4 months, we are now running it over one weekend!

This is perfect for those who:

  • are from the local Rockhampton region
  • are from rural or regional areas in Queensland
  • want to get a taste of our flagship QLD mentoring program and our legendary mentors
  • BONUS: We will be running a Parent Seminar on Saturday for parents/teachers of the deaf
  • Phonak Sound Field System and Live Captioning available

Note: If you are on the NDIS, you may be able to use your funding to pay for the program costs.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This is for current deaf or hard of hearing High School students (Year 7 to Year 12).  The teenagers will be grouped with peers from the same year group as them.

I live outside of the Rockhampton and Central North Qld regions but I would really like to attend this Blast. Can I do so?

Yes, of course! Any deaf or hard of hearing teenager is most welcome to enrol in the Blast 🙂

What is the mentor to participant ratio?

Every teenager gets grouped into their year group (7&8, 9&10, 11&12) and each year group will have 2 mentors (1 male and 1 female). The maximum ratio is 1 mentor to 4 participants.

The ticket says it is for ‘One deaf/hard of hearing teenager’, does this mean I have to purchase a separate tickets for myself (parent) and siblings?

No, if you and your other children wish to accompany your deaf/hard of hearing teenager to the Parent Seminar, you are welcome to do so at no extra cost.

Why the registration fee?

This is the fee to secure your teenager’s enrolment ($100)

The full cost of the weekend Blast is $1,000 – the remaining balance of $900 can be paid in the following ways:

  • Personal payment upfront
  • Through your NDIS plan/funding if you are registered
  • If you are unable to pay this due to financial hardship, you can apply to be part of our Community Fundraising Program where we will work with you to fundraise this through your local community clubs e.g. RSLs, Rotary, Lions, Apex, etc

Can I use my current NDIS funding to cover Hear For You?

Yes this is possible. After purchasing the NDIS Participant Registration fee ticket, please contact David Brady on david.brady@hearforyou.com.au to inform him whether you are:

  • NDIA Agency managed i.e. they pay all invoices on your behalf
  • Self-funded i.e. the NDIA have given you a lump sum to use as per your agreed NDIS plan

You will need to give us your NDIS number and the number of hours or funding amount that you have secured with your NDIA planner.

What if I am not on the NDIS/I am not eligible for the NDIS and I would to love to attend, what do I do?

  1. You can choose to pay the full amount personally, note we are offering the early bird offer of $700 if you pay by 30 June.

  1. If you have financial hardship in meeting the program costs, you can apply to enter our Community Fundraising Program, where Hear For You will work with you and your family to fundraise towards the $1,000 total. This program involves providing support to apply for small grants that can be secured from local clubs, community organisations, and foundations such as RSLs, Lions, Rotary etc.

Please contact david.brady@hearforyou.com.au or call 02 8937 4150 to discuss these options further after purchasing the Non-NDIS registration ticket.
